Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Requesting increase in protection (again) because the current semi-protection hasn't even lapsed yet and the disruptive editing of unsourced content has persisted. This unfortunately seems necessary. Trailblazer101 (talk) 06:47, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of the rest of the current protection, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 17:57, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Extremely high level of egregious edits, sometimes implying he was "headshot" or he committed sexual crimes or that he is a nazi every since he won the election. The page was temporarily protection a while ago but that expired. Theofunny (talk) 10:09, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Disruptive activity is not that high overall; the most egregious edits have been revision-deleted in the meantime. Lectonar (talk) 16:02, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Entranced98 (talk) 10:38, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP/brand new users disruption an edit-warring. ---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 11:07, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Users consistently edit warring over Tsoi's place of death, between the Latvian SSR and the Republic of Latvia. As Latvia's declaration of independence took place on May 4, 1990, Viktor Tsoi died within the Republic, not the Soviet Union. I am requesting page protection to prevent further edit warring over his place of death. PhoenixCaelestis (Talk) (Contribs) 11:48, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You and the two IP addresses pushing this edit seem to be unwilling to discuss your edit against longstanding consensus in talk, so it's quite interesting that you're requesting page protection the moment someone reverted you. michael60634 / talk / contributions 14:20, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite semi-protection: This article has had disruptive edits for almost a year where IPs add the same content over and over and are reverted over and over. The IPs never use edit summaries or respond to talk page warnings. Sometimes the IPs get banned, but just resume once the block expires. Every aspect of their edits violate guidelines of WP:V and are against all guidelines established at MOS:TV. Zatima was another target of theirs, but that got semi-protection last month and all disruptive editing to that article ceased. Along with the main article mentioned, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and The Chi also receive the exact same disruptive edits and would benefit from long-term semi-protection. Thank you. Reason: frequent vandalism KarsVegas36 (talk) 13:15, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Lectonar (talk) 15:48, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalism on the page has been going up and down for a while, but as of late it's gone up. JayCubby 13:28, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent disruptive editing by blocked sockpuppet IPs. Bgsu98 (Talk) 13:35, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I would also add yet another reminder that ECP is unnecessary overkill when the disruption comes from IPs. Daniel Case (talk) 17:53, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of new account removal of reliably sourced content and addition of poorly sourced content. Article is covered under WP:CT/IPA and WP:GS/CASTE. Chariotrider555 (talk) 16:46, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – persistent vandalism of sections involving the club's foundation, heritage, backing etc for almost 20 years, look at the oldest edits and newest edits for proof. Nzs9 (talk) 17:45, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent disruptive editing. (CC) Tbhotch 17:52, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Please edit the title. Title should be Chhatrapati sambhaji Maharaj. And also there is no information on his execution only written where executed but aurangzeb torcherd him a lot that should have been written and also he never had alcohol. Aslo he never was a womeniser looks like someone from muslim edited this page also Chhatrapati sambhaji Maharaj never fought against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Make your facts correct. 116.74.254.84 (talk) 08:59, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – Please read the "Frequently asked questions" list near the top of Talk:Sambhaji. Favonian (talk) 14:10, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you cannot read the FAQ, (1) we do not include titles or honourifics in the name of an article and (2) the sources cited in the article beyond the lead section say precisely these things - the torture, his behaviour, his defection to the Mughals and military conflict with Shivaji. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:59, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is the Siddhaṃ script for Siddhaṃ script. I see rectangles, but it might work for some. It might be create-protected for a reason, though. JayCubby 18:30, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
